Greetings everyone!


Thanks to all who came out for the Austin Studio Tour and Mosaic Fest in November. It was so nice to see so many of you! We had a lot of fun, and I look forward to doing it again next year. BIG thanks to J Muzacz and The Mosaic Workshop for hosting. The visiting artists installed over *20* new mosaic installations (including pothole mosaics!) across Austin.

Mosaic Magic Exhibit by the Austin Mosaic Guild

The Hive Gallery in the Galleria at Bee Cave

12912 Hill Country Blvd, Ste F160, Bee Cave, TX (across from Dillards and H&M)


Join me and over 30 talented mosaic artists in this incredible exhibit featuring some of the best mosaic work in central Texas! Most of us will be in attendance at the opening reception.



I will debut the work I began at the Austin Studio Tour...some of you saw the beginnings of my creative process at The Mosaic Workshop in November!


"Rebirth" features a handmade snakelike substrate (the snake is a symbol of rebirth in my Ojibwe culture), and a vibrant spiraling mosaic of springtime growth: abstracted, but in the tradition of Woodland Floral beadwork. It's glittery and lush in person, with freshwater pearls, faceted smalti, colorful millefiori, turquoise, beads, and more.

UPCOMING MOSAIC CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS:


I have several classes coming up in the next few months...


"MOSAIC MANDALAS" Saturday and Sunday, February 14-15

LOCATION: The Art School at Laguna Gloria, 3809 W 35th St., Austin, TX


This is a shorter version of my popular Mandala Design course with a focus on creating your own personal mosaic mandala with meaning.




"INTRO TO SMALTI MOSAICS" Saturday, Febrary 21

LOCATION: The Hive Gallery, 12912 Hill Country Blvd, Ste F160, Bee Cave, TX (across from Dillards and H&M)

This one-day course is suitable for beginners or intermediate students who have an interest in learning to work with smalti in their mosaics.


"MODERN BYZANTINE MOSAICS" Saturday and Sunday, April 18-19

LOCATION: The Art School at Laguna Gloria, 3809 W 35th St., Austin, TX

This 1.5 day course is similar to the Intro to Smalti course, but with a focus on creating modern interpretations of traditional Byzantine mosaics using Italian smalti.
