Great news for all seed pod enthusiasts out there!
With the addition of our Xeriscape garden, the complete installation is now on view at Anderson Mill Rd and Olson Dr in NW Austin, as the latest addition to the City of Austin's Art In Public Places collection.
Community grassroots efforts led to the 2016 Anderson Mill Mobility Bond Project. which funded this artwork. It is the first public art installation in this area!
With the help of many community volunteers (including my amazing daughter Serena, who was visiting from Toronto!) we added a xeriscape garden, selecting plants that will hold up to the harsh summers in Austin with minimal upkeep, once established.
Many of us are now forming a team to water the beds through the summer to help establish strong root systems for the plantings. Click this link to join the facebook group and lend a hand: https://m.facebook.com/groups/174886658578741/?ref=share
If you're in the area, drive by and check them out! You'll find an approximate GPS location at 10301 Anderson Mill Rd., Austin, TX 78750.
SAVE THE DATE: The official dedication event, sponsored by the City of Austin Art in Public Places, will be held on Saturday, June 24 at 10:00am. More details coming soon!
To be able to create this kind of contribution to the neighborhood I've lived in for over 30 years fills me with joy. A very big THANK YOU to all who helped to make it happen!
